Storing Coffee Beans
Four Factors for Storing Coffee Beans: Temperature, Humidity, Light, and Ventilation
Ventilation is the most crucial. Without proper ventilation, sealing or vacuuming can preserve the beans to some extent, but they will oxidize rapidly once opened. Avoid exposing them to sunlight or use dark-colored packaging for storage.
AIM’s one-way valve coffee bags are made of pure aluminum, offering the best preservation effect. The packaging material is also specially thickened, but this added thickness made it difficult to use standard heat sealers, so we invested heavily (bold move, we know!) in specialized heat-sealing equipment.
What we didn’t choose:
- Aluminum-coated material (though it looks shiny and nice) due to its weaker barrier properties.
- Transparent material (also visually appealing) because it fails to block out light effectively.
